High Peak has been a high end brand in Europe for many years it was introduced in the U.S. a few years ago.
High Peak has out performed better known brands such as SlumberJack, Wenger, and etc. hands down. They have a superior product, and far better customer service. While Wenger is in and out of business, and maybe back in again next year. SlumberJack is moving headquarters trying to revive their operation, while High Peak just keeps going up and up.
Maybe a lesson could be learned from all of this. Companies start out needing business so they work hard to get customers. After they find success they become complacent, greedy, and lazy. They start to slack off, even treating the average size companies that made them what they are with polite disgust. They focus on the large accounts, while saying the smaller ones aren't worth their time. But the old saying that "what goes around comes around" kicks in. The large companies get big enough to cut them out and buy directly from the manufacturer in China, and etc.
That is when the distributers find themselves in trouble trying to get back the old accounts they have in many cases destroyed.
